I would like to take a moment and congratulate ALG for its amazing success on Afrik-Impact 2016. You made me proud of being an African because you have proven that Africans can take initiative and manage and develop their lives. By your core principle which is if I’m not mistaken, helping people help themselves, you are touching the fundamental issue facing us…

I just wanted to tell you that you guys are doing such a wonderful job to prepare our fellow African immigrants to get empowered, connected to each other, and above all to know and appreciate the real environment they are in. Papa M Dia

Papa M Dia

President and Founder

A native of Dakar, Senegal arrived in Denver, Colorado the spring of 1998. Equipped with an infectious smile and a curious nature, the graduate of Cheikh Anta Diop University, landed a job at the iconic Tattered Cover Bookstore restocking books. There he was allowed the space and opportunity to explore the vast menu of books and audiotapes teaching himself to read and speak English.

With a simple command of the language he embarked upon loftier opportunities to leverage his skill to connect people in both a deep personal and meaningful way, he accepted an entry-level position at a local branch bank. The environment provided an organic setting to learn the backbone of American banking and finance. Increasing his knowledge of regulatory, compliance, policy, and customer relationship management Papa earned a senior leadership role. In this capacity, he invested in the potential of both junior associates and non-traditional candidates resulting in the placement of more than 200 African born banking professionals. Training branch staff to master the complexities of banking operating procedures while delivering an exceptional customer experience his branch continues to outperform neighboring banking centers and competitors, alike.

He is an advocate for professional development and education and requires his direct reports to maintain solid transferable skills.
